Japan 47%, Germany 11%, S. Korea 7%, and France 5%, then the US.
Patents granted (in descending order): IBM, Canon, UC-Cal, Seiko Instruments, Hitachi, Olympus, Stanford, Advanced Micro Devices, HP, and Rice University.
